Job Title: Manager of Cost and Financial Analysis
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Controller (San Diego) with dotted line reporting to the VP Operations, Emeryville, CA
Location: Emeryville, CA
Travel Requirements: 10% domestic US travel (i.e. ~2 days/month).
Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to manage activities for the cost and financial analysis accounting functions. Responsibilities include leading the design and implementation of the cost accounting system and close process, development of standard product costs, development of budgets and forecasts for Manufacturing Operations and R&D, providing financial analysis for R&D new product development projects and manufacturing-related capital expenditures and participating as the financial representative on project teams. This position will add value by applying business judgment to financial analysis and by offering creative insights and solutions to existing business situations as well as scenario planning.
Requirements:
Minimum of five years of progressive cost accounting, management, and financial analysis experience. Experience utilizing a standard costing system in a manufacturing environment, medical device manufacturing required. Prior supervisory or project leadership experience required with medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, advanced Excel), and various ERP/Manufacturing and accounting software (Ms Dynamics GP highly desired).
- Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
- Ability to start projects, take initiative and proceed with minimal guidance on broad objectives.
- Flexibility to move from one major project to the next.
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
- Ability to participate as the financial representative on project teams.
- Ability to develop and review standard costs.
- Ability to work effectively with Sales, Marketing, Operations and R&D senior management.
- Ability to accurately estimate cost information.
- Ability to prepare financial presentations for non-financial management.
- Ability to respond quickly to ad hoc requests.
- Ability to handle and work under stressful situations.
- Ability to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously.
