Regional Sales Director – Southeast

Position Summary

Zogenix is a global pharmaceutical company committed to developing and commercializing transformative therapies to improve the lives of patients and their families living with rare diseases.

The Regional Sales Director will lead the execution of commercial strategies with their assigned sales team to meet goals and objectives for all Zogenix products in the assigned region – Southeast Region (FL, GA, AL, SC, NC, VA, WV, DE, MD, D.C.) – candidates must live within geographical boundary of the designated region. (No relocation assistance will be provided)

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Sales Performance & Leadership

  • Recruit, hire and retain high achievers within the customer facing team
  • Ensure strong, consistent performance that consistently meets or exceeds brand objectives and product sales goals while consistently demonstrating accountability for all results
  • Develop and implement regional business plans and effectively implement marketing initiatives to ensure region meets or exceeds assigned sales goals
  • Manage regional and territory alignment using provided resources to ensure that markets for all products are properly identified, reached and cultivated
  • Spend equal amounts of time in each regional territory to ensure each Key Account Manager has support and coaching to maximize their effectiveness
  • Provide consistent coaching and development to across all territories to maximize effectiveness, drive accountability and ensure results
  • Work closely with training to ensure appropriate development of the regional team designed to continue to facilitate growth in the commercial organization
  • Plan and conduct meetings (live and virtual) to drive strategy and facilitate training to ensure clear and ongoing communication with employees and support efforts to execute in the field and deliver consistent results
  • Manage diversity to ensure that equal opportunities exist for all qualified employees
  • Manage and develop the overall talent of the region via the build out of career paths and ongoing training
  • Allocate, manage, and control regional expense budgets
  • Motivate, recognize and reward individual and team achievements utilizing bonuses, recognition programs, and personal recognition to promote and reinforce high achievement
  • Complete all required paperwork and administrative duties
  • Embrace, follow and lead through Zogenix values, policies, practices and standards to support of our customers, patients and fellow employees
  • Model Zogenix vision and high standards of behavior during all corporate interactions and lead by example with the regional team and in front of customers
  • Complete any and all required training and certifications within the designated time frames

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university


  • 3+ years of Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical sales leadership experience required
  • 10+ years of Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical sales experience required
  • Proven, documented track record of delivering consistent sales results
  • Experience promoting products specific to CNS/neuroscience including: epilepsy, orphan and/or rare diseases highly preferred
  • New product launch experience preferred
  • Experience calling on customers at a variety of call points (i.e. academic centers, community-based, hospitals and private practice offices) both in person and virtual
  • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred

Motor Vehicle Record Requirements

  • Valid license in state of residence.
  • No less than 1 year of driving experience.
  • No more than 1 major violation in the past 5 years.
  • No more than 3 moving violations or chargeable accidents in the past 3 years

Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to travel domestically as required
  • 50% – 75% travel required, depending on geography (includes frequent overnight and weekend travel)

Background Check Requirements

  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screening as required by Zogenix.
