System Administrator

Summary

The System Administrator will provide essential support to the IT and Technology and wider Zogenix team.  The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, proactive multitasker who is able to work in a busy multi-site environment. As well as supporting day to day task’s such as troubleshooting core systems and network issues, the candidate will be responsible for operational compliance, to implement controls and will be involved in ongoing security measures. This position will report to the Manager, IT Operations and is based in the Maidenhead office in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, manage, and troubleshoot core systems and network issues including but not limited to Office 365, iLand and Veeam Backup, VMware, OneLogin, Microsoft Azure
  • Work with the team to implement technology solutions to enable business
  • Assist with helpdesk ticket escalations and team escalations
  • Supervise and coordinate IT Infrastructure projects in coordination with team management, business stakeholders and external vendors
  • SOP and Systems Documentation; responsible for creation and implementation of procedures/documentation used in the support of IT infrastructure systems and services
  • Responsible for implementing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of various hardware including but not limited to desktop, printers, routers, switches, and VPNs
  • Support team by participating in pre-release QA and testing
  • Create and maintain systems documentation, diagrams and IT procedures
  • Proactively gather functional requirements and translate the requirements into a detailed design document

Security

  • Ensure operational compliance within departmental standards and general industry best practice
  • Install devices and firewalls, and monitor performance of Azure, VMs, software and hardware
  • Responsible for implementing controls, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of O365
  • Installing, administering and troubleshooting the organization's security solutions
  • Monitor the internet connection for security risks
  • Employ the latest security protocols and recommend security enhancements to management
  • Develop and support organizational security standards, best practices, preventative measures, and disaster recovery plans
  • Report on security breaches to users, as necessary, and to upper management.
  • Implement and update software to protect information
  • Stay current on IT security trends and information
  • Support desktop, mobile, and network security
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Pharmaceutical industry/environment experience

The Systems Administrator should also have:

  • Best Practices around Network infrastructure standards
  • Core Systems Administration, Troubleshooting and Management in a multi-site environment
  • Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019 Troubleshooting & Management
  • Experience with management of enterprise backup and recovery systems.
  • Experience managing virtualized environments, preferably VMware 5.5 and up
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Understanding of PowerShell and ability to write scripts and automate
